New Battlefield Now in Development at DICE

A new entry in the Battlefield series is now in the works at DICE, according to development director Dan Vaderlind.

In a post on Twitter, Vaderlind announced that he's moved on from Star Wars Battlefront to begin work on the next Battlefield.

Now that we've shipped Battlefront and a part of the team continues to work on it, I am moving on to another project, the next Battlefield.

Star Wars Battlefront released last month, and DICE is still working on additional content for the shooter, including more free DLC. That said, it appears some members of the team have shifted their development efforts to focus on the next Battlefield.

Last year, Electronic Arts discussed its plans for the future of franchise, confirming Battlefield 5 will return to a military setting after the cops vs. criminals-themed departure of Battlefield Hardline. The publisher also said it's targeting a holiday 2016 release.
