Danganronpa 3 Confirmed for 2016, New Anime Announced

Danganronpa 3 will bring more jazz guitar and high school murder mysteries sometime in 2016.

Developer Spike Chunsoft first announced a new Danganronpa at this year's Tokyo Game Show, but we now know to expect it next year thanks to a brand new trailer, which also features a look at gameplay:

The first two games, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, were mostly about uncovering the truth in Phoenix Wright-like courtroom investigations.

However, Famitsu (via NeoGAF) reports that this chapter, titled Danganronpa V3: A New Semester for Everyone's Killing Life, will also allow for bluffing in order to dismantle your opponents' arguments.

The game will focus on a school for the "super cool," with what looks to be an appropriately ridiculous cyborg protagonist in the game's official poster.

Also joining Danganronpa 3 is a new anime companion series, Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak. The production will center on characters from the first game, and supposedly close the loop on their somewhat ambiguous fates.

This will also arrive in 2016, though, like the game, a tighter window has yet to be announced.

In addition to returning to PS Vita, Danganronpa 3 will be the first title in the series to also be released on PlayStation 4.

A Western release has not yet been confirmed, but perhaps we'll get confirmation (and maybe an English trailer) at this weekend's PlayStation Experience. Until then, be sure to watch Danganronpa 3's debut TGS trailer if you missed it.
